ABOUT US

Emily Toal
PGDip, BSc (Hons), MHCPC, MCSP, ACPAT (CAT A)

Graduation

Emily, the 'Living Free Physio', first qualified as a physiotherapist with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours, from The University of Birmingham in 2018.

Since then, Emily has worked in the NHS and completed many different rotations, such as orthopaedics, neurosurgery, general medicine, intensive/critical care, hydrotherapy and even burns & plastics.

Alongside this, she also experienced working in elite football and volunteered her free time at a holistic horse sanctuary.

After being on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic, Emily decided it was time to enrol back at university and follow the path that would lead her to what she had always wanted to do: help animals as well as people.

In 2023 Emily graduated from The University of Liverpool with a distinction in veterinary physiotherapy (post-graduate diploma) and has experience working in a specialist veterinary referral centre in Manchester.

Today, alongside Living Free Physiotherapy, Emily continues to work part-time in private healthcare and has access to a local canine hydrotherapy centre.

Living Free for Elsa

Emily's childhood dog, Elsa, named after the Born Free lion, is in part, why Living Free Physiotherapy exists today.

As a rescue puppy, Elsa came with an uncertain background and as a mixed breed of Black Labrador X German Shepherd, she was pre-disposed to issues such as elbow and hip dysplasia.

Around 8 years old Elsa sadly had a traumatic tear of her cranial cruciate ligament and had to undergo TPLO surgery.
In later life this led to osteoarthritis which put more strain on her joints.

Had a service like Living Free Physiotherapy been accessible, Elsa's quality of life in these later years could have been vastly improved.
